In 1967 the Jaguar Mark 2 2.4 litre was rebadged as the 240. Output of the 240 engine was increased from 120 to 133 bhp, and it now had a straight-port type cylinder head and twin carburettors with a new inlet manifold. There was a slight reshaping of the rear body and slimmer bumpers and over-riders were fitted. For the first time the 2.4 litre model could exceed 100 mph, resulting in a slight sales resurgence.
This stainless steel sports exhaust system by Double S is designed to fit the Jaguar 240 saloon car, in production from 1967 to 1969. The system comprises left- and right-hand front pipes (Double S part reference numbers SSJR118 and SSJR119), twin centre sports silencer (SSJR110S) and twin sports tailpipes (SSJR35S). The sportier replacement silencer and tailpipes allow for a smoother exhaust gas flow, thus improving overall performance.
